TALLAHASSEE — Help Bring Hope (HBH), a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness and hardship, was recognized this past weekend with the Champion of Hope Award during a National Month of Hope event hosted by Mothers In Crisis.
The recognition underscores HBH’s rapid growth and measurable impact across multiple Florida communities in just its first year of operation.
Founded with a mission to address homelessness, food insecurity, and maternal and child health, Help Bring Hope has expanded from a small group of seven volunteers into a multi-region organization with active outreach efforts in Orlando, Pompano Beach, and Tallahassee.
“Receiving the Champion of Hope Award is a meaningful honor for our organization and the communities we serve,” said Ryan Mohorne, Board Chair of Help Bring Hope. “In a short period of time, we’ve seen what’s possible when passionate volunteers and partners come together with a shared purpose. This recognition reflects the impact of that collective effort and reinforces our commitment to continue growing our reach and deepening our support in every community we serve.”
Over the past year, HBH has led several community-driven initiatives aimed at delivering essential resources and fostering connection, including:
Hope for the Harvest (Tallahassee): Served approximately 200 individuals through the distribution of food, clothing, and critical resources at The Kearney Center. Through partnership with FAMU, Institute of Public Health individuals learned about overdose prevention methods using Narcan kits.
Hope for the Holidays (Orlando): Distributed more than 130 care packages featuring hot meals, hygiene essentials, and more than 200 toys in partnership with Toys for Tots and local organizations.
Hope for the Hallways (Pompano Beach): Provided more than 150 students and families with bookbags, essential school, haircuts, free hairstyle vouchers, and other resources to support a strong start to the academic year.
The organization’s approach centers on creating meaningful, in-person engagement, combining resource distribution and education with relationship-building to ensure individuals feel seen, supported, and connected to ongoing services.
The Champion of Hope Award was presented as part of a broader initiative recognizing organizations and leaders making a measurable difference in their communities during the National Month of Hope. HBH leadership participated in the event’s Hope Immersion Retreat, which brought together changemakers focused on collaborative solutions and long-term impact.
As Help Bring Hope continues to expand its footprint, the organization is focused on scaling its programming, strengthening partnerships, and increasing the frequency and reach of its community activations.
“Our goal is not just to show up once, but to build something consistent and lasting,” Mohorne added. “We’re committed to growing in a way that creates meaningful, long-term impact.”
